Jeter scoring points in bunches for Beaver Falls boys basketball team.
The sky is the limit might be an overused phrase in sports. However, it really fits Sheldon Jeter, the Beaver Falls boys' basketball team's star senior guard.
Beaver Falls opened WPIAL Section 6-AA play last Friday night with an 86-54 whipping of Quaker Valley, considered to be one of the few teams that could possibly dethrone the defending section champs. The 6-foot-8 Jeter led the charge with 33 points and 17 rebounds, scoring in a variety of ways that included slashes to the basket, long jumpers and dunks.
"We know what we're going to get out of Sheldon," Beaver Falls coach Doug Biega said. "Are we going to get 33 and 17 every night? No, I don't think so. Maybe we will. I can't completely rule it out. With Sheldon, anything is possible."
Jeter came close a night later as he poured in 29 points in a 71-53 victory over Allderdice in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Holiday Festival at Ambridge.
Beaver Falls (3-1) has won three games in a row since losing by two points to West Middlesex in its opener. The Tigers will visit Rochester (0-5) on tonight in a non-section game.
