Beaver Falls baseball team ends on high note

Written by Sports Town on .

It’s been a long time since 2010 when Beaver Falls was on top of the WPIAL baseball world as the Class AA champions. The Tigers haven’t made the playoffs since and missed again this year but took steps in the right direction.

Playing in the section with two defending WPIAL champs and a defending PIAA champ, Beaver Falls won just four section games but one of them was over one of the defending champs (WPIAL Class A Neshannock) and another a win in the final week over Laurel, which is in this year’s playoffs.

Cook, Miller close out championship win for Beaver Falls boys' basketball team

Written by Sports Town on .

After coming back from as many as 12 down in the first half of the PIAA Class AA Championship game, Beaver Falls finally took the lead for good over Holy Cross with 3:21 left in the game. But the Crusaders didn’t concede the title quietly.

With 15.5 seconds left, the Tigers held a 3-point lead when Drew Cook was fouled and went to the line with a chance to clinch the win, but he missed both. Holy Cross 6-foot-6 senior Josh Kosin already had 11 rebounds to his credit, but he lost the battle for the rebound to Beaver Falls’ 6-0 senior Zach Miller.

Miller got the ball back to Cook, who was fouled again with 10.3 seconds left.
