Alumni Update - Arkangelo James (Bethany)
Bethany junior forward Arkangelo James was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year.In addition to being selected First Team All-PAC for a third consecutive year, James’ Player of the Year award makes him the first Bison since Lavel Williams in 2004 to earn the top player status.
James, a Baldwin High School graduate, led the PAC in scoring with 18 goals and 41 total points. In addition, his 2.41 points per game is eighth-best in NCAA Division III and his 1.06 goals per game ranks him ninth in the nation.
James had 13 points in his first eight games. However, beginning with three goals and two assists in an Oct. 3 victory over Franciscan, James totaled 28 points through the final 10 matches. After striking for all three goals in a win over Geneva on Oct. 9., he had one goal and two assists in an overtime triumph at Saint Vincent Oct. 14.
James finished the season with 18 goals, which tied for the sixth-most in Bethany history, With one season still to play, James has moved up to fourth place in career goals at Bethany with 48 and his 112 points ranks him fifh.
“Ark truly deserved this award,” Bethany coach Sean Regan said. “He has always been one of the top three players in the PAC since his freshman year, but the amount of hard work, extra training sessions and passion for the game is what made him the best player this year.”
