Alumni Update - Katelyn Natter (California University of Pennsylvania)
California University of Pennsylvania outfielder Katelyn Natter, a Baldwin High School graduate, was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference West Freshman of the Year in softball and also an all-conference selection.Natter has hit .317 this season with 12 home runs and 32 RBI. The 12 round-trippers currently rank fourth in the PSAC.
Natter is the third Vulcan in the last four seasons to be named the West Freshman of the Year, following teammate Shelby Lia from last year as well as Alyson Johnson from 2009.
Primarily a center fielder, Natter ranks second on the team and fourth in the PSAC with 12 homers, which is one shy of the freshman school record. She has posted a .317 average (39-for-123) with seven doubles, 32 RBI and 38 runs scored this season.
Cal U was selected as the second seed and host for the NCAA Atlantic Regional from Friday-Sunday. The Vulcans open play in the four-team, double-elimination regional on Friday, when they play Lock Haven at 3:30 p.m.
