Hockey: South Game of the Week - Indiana at Baldiwn
Indiana at Baldwin, 8:40 p.m. today, Ice Castle at Castle Shannon
Carrying a five-game winning streak, not many teams are hotter in the PIHL's Open Class than Indiana. The team will visit one tonight that most certainly is.
Indiana (14-5) will attempt to snap the 12-game winning streak of Baldwin (15-3-1) in what could very well be a playoff preview of perhaps a Chiefs Cup semifinal game that would be staged in the coming weeks.
The regular-season finale for both teams carries with it the right to have momentum heading into the Open Class playoffs, which begin next week.
Oddly enough, the two meetings between these teams this season could not come farther apart in terms of time. They also met for the season opener Oct. 26. Indiana won, 5-0. But it's safe to say this is not the same Baldwin team -- not after having not lost a game since Dec. 5.
Michael Cochran had two goals in that October meeting and is second on the team in goals behind Patrick Hunter. Austin Moody made 22 saves for the shutout. His second shutout of the season came in his most recent appearance, Feb. 10 at Ligoneer Valley
Baldwin's Zach Christman has started seven games during the team's winning streak, allowing only 11 goals in that time.
