Big week on tap for Avonworth softball team
Three games in four days are on top this week for the Avonworth softball team who remains in playoff contention. The Antelopes are 3-6 overall and 3-4 in Section 1-AA where they sit behind Seton-LaSalle (7-0), Keystone Oaks (8-1), Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (6-2) and Brentwood (4-5).
Avonworth has some ground to make up but a look back at their schedule shows they are only a few runs from being in third place. Avonworth was hard luck losers against Keystone Oaks in a 16-15 game and at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in an 8-7 setback.
The schedule favors Avonworth from here on out. It has two remaining games against Bishop Canevin, a 3-7 team. This week it faces Carlynton on April 23 and Keystone Oaks on April 24. It won its first meeting over Carlynton and lost to Keystone Oaks by one run.
