Laurel's Jones plays in Penn-Ohio Football Classic as prelude to Geneva College career
For most of its 123 history, Geneva College drew its running backs from the local WPIAL area. The name atop the Golden Tornadoes rushing record book now, though, is Gerard Muschette, a Maryland product.
Another WPIAL product will be looking to make his mark at Reeves Field, though, as Laurel’s Dylan Jones has committed to play there. Jones, who rushed for 1177 yards last season, will get a final high school tune-up this Friday at the 33rd annual Penn-Ohio All-Star Football Classic.
“They wanted me to come and play running back and that was important to me,” said Jones at a recent practice. “I’m looking at this Penn –Ohio game almost like my first college game because I have a lot of players on this team and the Ohio team that will be my teammates this fall.
Locally, Blackhawk kicker Mike Gardner has also committed to Geneva.
“Getting a kid like Dylan Jones is indicative of our success in recruiting local kids,” said Geneva head coach Geno DeMarco. “Dylan is one of 25 recruits we have coming in from within an hour of campus.”
