Big 33 football game is a rush for Shell, Durden
"As a Class AAA football coach, John Barton was glad his first exposure to Parkway Conference talent came with a large measure of it on his side.
Barton, the head coach at Hollidaysburg Area High School, was a defensive assistant for Pennsylvania at the Big 33 Classic Saturday in Hershey.
Although he was coaching the defense and had to line up against the offense in practice, the comfort of knowing that Rushel Shell and Julian Durden were on his team was good enough.
Hopewell's Shell is a Pitt recruit who is the all-time leading rusher in Pennsylvania. Durden is a Kent State recruit who is the WPIAL's sixth all-time leading rusher and won a WPIAL title with Montour.
Barton was asked whether he ever had to face either of the dynamic running backs while with Hollidaysburg."
