Section 2-AAA proves to be one of strongest softball sections in WPIAL
Many players and coaches claim their section is even top to bottom and that anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
In Section 2-AAA the proof is in the results. The section that features Moon, Trinity, West Allegheny, Chartiers Valley, McGuffey and Montour also features plenty of parity. Take for instance last-place Trinity, it owns wins this year at Chartiers Valley and McGuffey.
If the playoffs started today Chartiers Valley and McGuffey would be in the playoffs. Even section champion Montour could not get out of the section schedule unscathed. It lost 1-0 to McGuffey and was stunned 14-5 by Chartiers Valley.
“I think it was an excellent section this season,” Montour coach Bill Wills said. “Every game was hard fought. The pitching in this section has improved immensely. I consider our section to be one of the toughest sections in the WPIAL.”
Heading into the final week of the season Montour has clinched the section title at 7-2 with McGuffey (5-3), West Allegheny (4-4), Chartiers Valley (4-4) and Moon (3-6) all in the mix.
