Canon-McMillan, Mt. Lebanon to clash in early-season hockey battle
All of Canon-McMillan and Mt. Lebanon’s combined losses this season are to teams that are unbeaten.
That could change tonight.
The Big Macs and Blue Devils face off in an early-season battle between two teams that were top four seeds in the Penguins Cup Class AAA playoffs last season.
The Blue Devils enter the game 2-2, with both losses coming to North Allegheny (6-0). Canon-Mac, meanwhile is 3-1-1, with the loss and the tie both coming against 3-0-1 Seneca Valley.
The key to the game could be the play of Mt. Lebanon goaltender Clay Wyda. Canon-McMillan leads the PIHL Class AAA in goals with 34 and averages close to 48 shots per game, while the Blue Devils give up 45 shots per contest.
Wyda has been stellar so far, with a .928 save percentage, and will likely face a barrage of shots tonight.
