Familiar opponents Peters Township and Bethel Park to meet in PIAA girls' soccer playoffs
Usually when teams enter the PIAA playoffs, they prepare to face unfamiliar opponents from unfamiliar areas.
That is not the case for Peters Township (20-1) and Bethel Park (20-2) this year. The two neighboring schools will meet in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs tonight at 6 at Chartiers Valley High School.
Bethel Park will look for a different outcome than when the teams met on Oct. 13 when it lost 4-0 to visiting Peters Township.
Peters Township won the WPIAL title with a 2-1 win over Seneca Valley on Saturday in double overtime. Bethel Park lost 1-0 to Seneca Valley in the WPIAL semifinals but bounced back to beat Gateway 3-1 in the third-place game to qualify for the state tournament.
