Quaker Valley, Freeport, and Shady Side Academy representing for Class AA North track

Written by Cara DeCarlo on .

WPIAL track team semifinals are today at 3pm. This means we finally get an idea of how to answer the age-old question: just what went on in all those section meets?

Quaker Valley is still a force from the North in WPIAL Class AA (or anywhere, probably). The Quakers are bringing both their boys’ and girls’ teams to host site South Fayette. There, Quaker Valley will face the entire Beaver team (boys’ and girls’) as well as the entire South Fayette team. The only boys/girls team deviation at South Fayette today will be that the Mohawk girls’ team will be participating on one bracket space, and the corresponding boys’ bracket space will go to Ellwood City.

Very similarly, both Freeport’s boys’ and girls’ teams will be hosting a bracket today. The Lady Yellowjackets went 8-0 this season (the team has won 21 straight) and achieved a third consecutive Section 7-AA title.  Freeport’s boys were 7-1, and will be attending the playoff today as runners up to Riverview.

Rounding things out for North girls’ teams in Class AA, Shady Side Academy will be competing at the Mt. Pleasant site. The Indians share a highly competitive Section 7-AA with Freeport and Riverview. Shady Side’s girls head to the playoffs today at Section runners-up after victories over Apollo Ridge and Riverview.

All WPIAL team track championship brackets are available on the District website. Click here and a new window will open for you to choose/view the brackets.
