Section 3-AAAA softball is up for grabs

Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

Early in the Section 3-AAAA and it is clear that nothing is clear.

Preseason favorite Shaler was stunned 10-2 by North Allegheny its section opener. Shaler rebounded by blasting Butler and Oakland Catholic by a combined 23-1 so maybe the Tigers have awoken a sleeping giant.

Seneca Valley and North Allegheny remain atop the section at 2-0 while Shaler (2-1), Pine-Richland (1-1), North Hills (1-2) and Butler (1-2) figure to remain in the section race deep into the season.

Last year Shaler ran away with the section title, posting a perfect 12-0 record to finish ahead of North Allegheny (9-3) and Seneca Valley (7-5) while Pine-Richland (6-6) just barely missed the playoffs.

The race for the section title figures to be much tighter this season.
