Class A Pengins Cup hockey: Quaker Valley dethrones Mars
Sam Werner has the details on Quaker Valley's win over Mars in the PIHL Class A championship game.
"The past three years, the Class A Penguins Cup has been property of the Mars Planets.
Not anymore.
Quaker Valley beat Mars, 4-2, Saturday at Consol Energy Center to claim its first Penguins Cup since 2008, when the Quakers also beat the Planets in the title game.
"I've lost to them every year for the last three years," Quakers senior Kevin Kenny said. "We beat them earlier this season [a 7-0 win Feb. 21] and to beat them again here just makes it even better."
Ryan Dickson scored two goals in the final minute of the second period to give the Quakers (20-1-1) a 3-0 lead and swing the momentum firmly in their favor."
