North Allegheny, Seneca Valley seniors top WPIAL track contenders

Written by Brad Everett on .

Brad Everett's feature on a couple of North zone pole vaulters:

2013 0516 NA neugebauer"When Brett Neugebauer and Dan Cashdollar meet up at the pole vaulting pit at a high school track meet, no introduction is needed.

They are two of the WPIAL's elite in the event, have squared off dozens of times throughout their careers, and compete for schools that are archrivals.

Today, when the pole vaulting competition takes place at the WPIAL Class AAA individual championships at Baldwin, there's a good chance one of them will be golden."

Section shows tennis strength in WPIAL

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

Ryan Riordan's feature on the tennis teams of Section 3-AA:

"Due to a tie for the final playoff spot in Class AA Section 3, four teams in the conference instead of the customary three qualified for the WPIAL Class AA team tennis tournament.

The WPIAL may want to make a new rule where four or even five teams from Section 3 qualify every year.

The four WPIAL qualifiers from Section 3 -- Sewickley Academy, Mars Area, Vincentian Academy and Quaker Valley -- all advanced to the semifinals, with Sewickley beating Mars for its 10th consecutive WPIAL title in the final last Thursday."
