Hempfield, Gateway, and Kiski lead the charge of East track teams in Class-AAA semis

Written by Cara DeCarlo on .

WPIAL track team semifinals are today at 3pm. This means we finally get an idea of how to answer the age-old question: just what went on in all those section meets?

The Sports Town East Zone is well represented in the playoffs today. Hempfield is a host site with both boys’ and girls’ teams competing. The Spartans boys’ and girls’ teams both won Section 1-AAA. But for the boys, Greensburg Salem was Section 1-AAA’s runner up. The girls’ Section 1-AAA runner up was Norwin.

Greensburg Salem’s boys’ team will go to Gateway today to compete with the Gators, Knoch, and North Allegheny. The Norwin girls will head to Mt. Lebanon.

Out of Section 4-AAA, Kiski Area’s boys and girls will be going to Mt. Lebanon also. The Cavaliers have posted lopsided scores all season, including solid wins over Hampton and Knoch.

Last but not least, Oakland Catholic and Central Catholic will be at Hempfield as Section 5-AAA’s runner ups.
