Written by Chris Adamski on .

Adam Blasinsky advanced to the PIAA Class AAA doubles tournament last season. With a different partner this year, he hopes to do the same.

Blasinsky, a sophomore, and junior partner Ross Molinaro are the No. 2 seed in the WPIAL Class AAA doubles tournament that will begin with first-round matches 1 p.m. today at Shady Side Academy. Blasinsky and Molinaro will play the Kiski Area team of juniors Charles Law and Thad Paunovich in the first round.

The first three rounds of the tournament will be played today, with the final and consolation matches played 2:30 p.m. Friday at Shady Side Academy. The top two finishers earn PIAA tournament berths. Blasinsky and Mike Santa Lucia were runners up last season.

Also participating in the Class AAA tournament from an East-area school are Penn-Trafford's Cullen Price, a sophomore, and Paul Campbell, a junior; and the Latrobe team of freshman Chad Kissell and senior Trevor Octavio, who beat Price and Campbell in the Section 1-AAA final.

The Class AA tournament begins 1 p.m. today at North Allegheny. The championship and third-place matches will be played 2:30 p.m. at Shady Side Academy. The top three finishers in Class AA advance to the PIAA tournament.

Juniors Tym Hoban and Alex Kietz of Winchester Thurston are the No. 2 seed. Teams from Valley (sophomores Cody Schrecongost and Adam Barone) and Burrell (seniors Mike Phillips and Matt Yerace) also will be taking part.
