City League Swimming: Facts and Dates to Remember

Over the next week in the City League, we’ll take certain days to examine a particular sport and tell you how its season is handled in PIAA District VIII. Today’s sport: boys’ and girls’ swimming.

City League teams: Brashear, Carrick, and Perry

First League competition: Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Brashear (Carrick and Perry will both attend).

City League Championship: February 20, 2013 (site and time t.b.d)

Allderdice won both the boys’ and girls’ championship in for the 2011-12 school year.

The PIAA Swimming and Diving Class AA and Class AAA are scheduled for March 12, 13, 14, and 15.

State swim competitors will all be individuals or relay squads (not entire teams), and they will be determined on a by-event basis. The competitors who make states must meet District VIII qualifying times as well as placement requirements. For detailed information from the PIAA regarding numbers of entries, click here. Note that District VIII (Class AAA) is combined with Districts IX and IV to form a region.
