Winter is coming for the City League – Regular season schedules
A lot has changed for City League sports in the past year. This post should provide a general overview of what to expect this winter. Please note that all schedules are subject to weather.
1. Boys’ and girls’ swimming (Carrick, Brashear, Perry). Regular season meets will take place on Thursdays between December 20, 2012 and February 14, 2013.
2. Boys’ basketball (Carrick, Obama, Perry, Westinghouse, Allderdice, Brashear). League games will begin January 4, 2013. Regular season League contests will end February 11, 2013.
3. Girls’ basketball (Brashear, Allderdice, Westinghouse, Perry, Obama, Carrick). The City League schedule for girls’ basketball will center on the same regular season dates as the boys’ schedule.
One note about basketball: In past seasons, City League basketball teams have played strong out-of-League schedules as well as strong City League schedules. Sports Town will post updates this winter that factor in out-of-League schedules.
4. Wrestling (Perry, Carrick, Obama, Brashear, Westinghouse, Allderdice). During the regular season, City League matchups will take place from December 12, 2012 to January 17, 2012.
One note about wrestling: City League wrestling teams often compete in tournaments and invitationals outside of the City League. Likewise, Sports Town will post updates this winter regarding City League wrestling teams attending invitationals and tournaments.
Right now while we’re in season transition, stay tuned for updates as winter approaches and as two City League football teams (University Prep and Perry) are in the PIAA playoffs.
