Coach: Pete Vitti (2nd year at Obama, 19th year overall)
Returning Starters:
Anna Vitti, 5'5", Senior Setter and OH, 1st Team All-District 8
Gabrielle Egler, 5'10", Junior MH, 1st Team All-District 8
Rosa Vitti, 5'6", Sophomore Setter and OH, Honorable Mention District 8
Alexandra Bowens, 5'2", Junior Defensive Specialist
Hannah Williams, 5'9", Sophomore MH
Maya McCray, 5'5", Senior Defensive Specialist
Season Outlook
"The Obama Academy Girls' Volleyball team is excited to defend last year's City Championship title with six returning starters from that team," Vitti said. "Georgia Bubash (a 6-0 sophomore opposite) will be starting for the first time this year after playing a season for the Pitt Elite volleyball club. She will add much needed height in the front row. Freshman defensive specialist Kennedy Bowens is working hard to replace All-Districit Libero Naomi Purnell who headed off to Pepperdine this week to begin her college studies. With three All-District returners and a solid core of starters, the expectations are high for this Obama Academy squad. The favorite in District 8 are: Obama, Allderdice, and Carrick."
