Specs for City League competitors in the PIAA Championships (May 25-26)
The PIAA Track and Field Championships kick off today and will proceed through tomorrow. What this means for the City League is that a number of teams and individuals will go. For individual competition, the top eight individuals or relay teams may be eligible as long as those top eight also meet a qualifying PIAA time, height, or distance.

PIAA Handbook Section III, Rules and Regulations – Scroll to page 33 for qualifying standards for Track and Field. Note that these are on the LABLED page 33 and not just the thirty-third page of the .pdf image.
Recall also that the City League does not participate in the javelin event, so no individual competitors will be attending the state meet to throw a javelin.
As far as team competition goes, at least one boys’ City League team and one girls’ City League team may participate for Class AAA, but no teams are required to participate in Class AA.
The state meet will kick off with preliminaries for all events running through today. Semifinals and finals will take place tomorrow.
