This week in the City League (Mar. 5)

It’s time for state-level basketball competition!

Girls’ basketball

Class AAA

City League top-seeded Westinghouse (19-5) will play Chartiers Valley (22-3, three-seed) on Saturday at 4:30pm at Peabody.

Class AAAA

Obama Academy (11-10) will play Upper Saint Clair (13-12) on Tuesday in the preliminary round. The winner will face Erie McDowell on Friday at PSU Behrend.

City League top-seeded Allderdice (21-3) will play the winner of Tuesday’s preliminary round game between Baldwin (17-7) and Erie Central (7-14). The Allderdice game will happen at 6:00pm at Carrick on Friday.

Boys’ basketball

Class AAA

Oliver (7-16) will play Mars (17-7) at 7pm tomorrow at Mars Area High School. This is a preliminary round game, and the winner will face Greater Johnstown on Friday.

Top-seeded Westinghouse (7-17) will play Beaver Area (18-7) at Carrick on Friday at 7:30pm.

Class AAAA

Top-seeded Allderdice (18-6) will play the winner of tomorrow’s preliminary round game between Shaler (22-3) and Strong Vincent (15-9)

Obama Academy (16-6) will play Butler (13-12) in the preliminary round. This game is at Butler at 7:00pm tomorrow, and the winner will play Cathedral Prep on Friday.
