City League schedule update – Winter sports from this point forward

Basketball

The City League boys’ basketball championship will take place on Saturday (Feb. 25). Allderdice (17-6, 13-1) will play Obama Academy (16-5, 12-2). Tip-off is 12pm at Peabody.

The girls’ championship will also be at Peabody – at 1:30pm following the boys’ game. Allderdice (20-3, 14-0) will play Westinghouse (19-4, 12-2).

Wrestling

The individual tournament happened last weekend (February 18th). Results can be seen in this post by Ken Wunderley. The top wrestlers in each weight class will go on to wrestle on the Class AAA bracket of the PIAA Northwest Regional Tournament. The next highest placements from Class AA designated City schools will wrestle on the Class AA bracket at the regional level of competition. The Northwest Regional Tournament is Friday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd at Altoona Area High School.

Swimming

The City Championship date (which is also the PIAA State Qualifying Meet) is set for March 3, 2012. This season, the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled for March 14, 2012.
