Walker scores 1,000th point for Ambridge boys' basketball team

Last Tuesday, Ambridge moved into control of a playoff spot with a 71-52 win over Ellwood City and the game was even more significant for senior Malik Walker.

Walker, the son of former Aliquippa and Robert Morris standout Myron Walker, scored the 1,000th point of his career. He led the Bridgers with 19 points that game and then added 12 against Blackhawk Friday in a loss. The Bridgers are now 10-8.

Ambridge hockey team making playoff push

Ambridge, the defending Open Cup champions, started the season 4-7-1 and were in danger of missing the playoffs.
 
But two one-goal victories have put the Bridgers in prime position to play in the postseason.

Ambridge eked out a 3-2 victory against Beaver Jan. 17, then took down John Marshall 4-3 Monday.

Alumni Update: Kiara Brown (Edinboro)

Edinboro senior guard Kiara Brown was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Brown, an Ambridge graduate, led the Fighting Scots to two victories last week.

In an upset over Gannon, ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II, Brown scored a game-high 26 points, added six assists, and grabbed five rebounds to give the Knight their first loss in conference play.

Two Ambridge hockey team juniors selected to all-star team

The Ambridge offense hasn’t been as explosive this season as last year, when the team led the Open Division in goals.

But juniors Walter Riggs and Glenn Veahman have still been productive, and they earned a place on the Open Division’s Southwest Conference All-Star Team.
