Ambridge boys' soccer becoming a team to watch

Written by Sports Town on .

If the WPIAL had a Most Improved Boys' Soccer Team award, Ambridge would be a strong early candidate.

The Bridgers have a 5-2 record overall and a 2-1 mark in Section 4-AA, putting them third behind Beaver (4-0) and Blackhawk (3-0). This is a major leap from last season, when Ambridge finished 3-13-2 and 2-9-1, for sixth place in the seven-team section.

Junior forward Matt Patterson has helped boost the Bridgers, whose losses have been to West Allegheny, 4-1, in the season-opening Ambridge Tournament and to Beaver, 4-2,. on Sept. 13. Ambridge plays Blakchawk today and will play its rematch with Beaver on Oct. 4.
