Allderdice is seeking offensive production on softball field

Written by Cara DeCarlo on .

Cara De Carlo got the details on how Allderdice softball  is using pitching talent and defensive skill to make way for offensive development:

"Despite a solid performance in the City League this season, resulting in a second-place finish, Allderdice softball coach Dave Walchesky would like to see his team score more runs.

"We have not been scoring runs," he said. "We've been shut out or only scored one or two runs in several games this year."

Walchesky was referring to non-league contests against Pine Richland, Woodland Hills and Oakland Catholic as well as two dismal showings against City League power Brashear. The Dragons scored a total of three runs in those five losses.

"To beat a team like Brashear, one run is not going to do," Walchesky explained. "Against a lot of the WPIAL schools we get runners on and can't get them across home plate."
