Girls Volleyball: WPIAL Class A Championship Preview Capsule
#1 Greensburg C.C. vs. #3 Bishop Canevin at Chartiers Valley, 2 p.m.
Greensburg C.C. won the Section 1-A title. The Centurions earned their third semifinal berth in six years with 3-0 sweeps of Northgate in the first round, Chartiers-Houston in the quarterfinals, and West Shamokin in the semifinals. The Centurions placed second in the WPIAL in 2007 and 2009.
Bishop Canevin, the Section 6-A champion, earned its second title berth in three years. The Crusaders swept South Side Beaver 3-0 in the first round, posted a 3-1 win against Riverview in the quarterfinals, then swept Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 3-0 in the semifinals. The Crusaders placed second in the WPIAL in 2010.
