Slippery Rock University cross country invitational had approx. 2400 runners

Written by Cara DeCarlo on .

Yesterday, the annual Slippery Rock University Invitational took off at 9AM.  Over one hundred teams (all levels, elementary through varsity) participated. There were a total of ten races:

Elementary boys’ race
Elementary girls’ race

Middle school boys’ race
Middle school girls’ race

JV boy’ race
JV girls’ race

Varsity Classes AA and A boys’ race
Varsity Classes AA and A girls’ race

Varsity Class AAA boys’ race
Varsity Class AAA girls’ race

The race course for the Slippery Rock invitational is the Cooper’s Lake course -- the same course that is the competition stage at the Tri-State invitational and WPIAL Championship meet. However, a one-lane bridge commonly traveled in the route to Cooper’s Lake is currently under construction. Detour information is available through https://www.cooperslake.com/home/index.php
For cross country teams and fans, this detour information may remain salient through Tri-States and WPIALs at the end of October.
