Six of eight WPIAL boys tennis team quarterfinal matches postponed
The WPIAL Class AA and Class AAA quarterfinals were scheduled to have been played Tuesday. Only two of the six matches were actually played.
The remaining matches were postponed until today due to inclement weather. They will be played at the same time (3:30 p.m. for all matches) at the same locale (home courts of the higher-seeded team -- weather permitting, anyway) that they were scheduled to play at today.
The only matches played Tuesday were staged indoors: Class AAA No. 1 seed Shady Side Academy beat Bethel Park, 4-1, at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center in Harmar, and Class AAA No. 2 seed Mt. Lebanon beat Butler, 3-2, at Lakevue Racquet Club in Middlesex Township.
Postponed quarterfinals rescheduled for today are Fox Chapel at Upper St. Clair and Central Catholic at North Allegheny in Class AAA and Indiana at Sewickley Academy, Thomas Jefferson at St. Joseph, Winchester Thurston at Bishop Canevin and Beaver at Hampton in Class AA.
The semifinals in both classifications will be Thursday and the championship matches will be played Friday at sites yet to be determined.
