High school notebook (May 4)
Mike White starts off this notebook with the story on Beaver Falls' basketball's Sheldon Jeter. Jeter has just committed to Vanderbilt to play his college basketball.
"Vanderbilt University was the last school to get into the Sheldon Jeter basketball recruiting race. But the Commodores ended up finishing first.
Jeter, a standout senior forward at Beaver Falls High School and the Post-Gazette's player of the year, announced Thursday night he will play next season at Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt didn't start recruiting Jeter until shortly after the season.
"They tried recruiting me in the beginning, but they couldn't," Jeter said. "They had to wait until I got my grades up.""
