Aliquippa football team can kick
Over the years, Aliquippa has developed a reputation as one of the top football teams year in and year out, and probably the top team that can’t kick. The first part of the reputation is well earned but, as it turns out, the second part isn’t: the Quips really can kick, they just don’t need to.
Robert Kish has kicked 40 extra points this season – a number that schools with reputations of good kicking can only hope to match. Under the tutelage of kicking coach Pat Colalella, Aliquippa has become quite adept at kicking and, just like the rest of the team, there is depth at the position.
It only makes sense that a team that has had 17 different players carry the ball and 20 different players score, the Quips have also used four kickers. Marquis Jenkins has connected on seven extra points and Darrien Fields three, including one against Karns City. Dennis Moreland has also successfully kicked an extra point.
Admittedly, Aliquippa hasn’t kicked a field goal this year but when the offense averages 9.6 yards per snap, there’s little need for field goals.
