Written by Sports Town on .

Name: Malik Shegog

Background info: Malik Shegog was a starting wide receiver when Aliquippa won the WPIAL Class AA championship in 2011 but, when the Quips repeated this week with a 34-7 victory over Washington in the final, it was with Shegog as the starting quarterback. In the championship game, he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 38 yards and another touchdown, and made three tackles. For the season, he has rushed for 478 yards and nine TDs and passed for 583 yards and eight TDs. He will play in the Chesapeake Bowl High School All-Star game on Dec. 29 in Washington, D.C.

Quotes from Coach Mike Zmijanac: “Malik is different from quarterbacks we’ve had in the past. He’s an athlete that plays quarterback, not strictly a dropback quarterback. He’s had three years to learn as backup and he has. He’s a bright young man and has changed the play from the one I’ve called when he’s needed to. He’s done exactly as I expected.”
