Aliquippa football team takes balance to the extreme

Written by Sports Town on .

Every coach at every level in every sport talks about balance, but Aliquippa took even that to an extreme in a 34-7 thumping of Washington in the WPIAL Class AA championship game.

The Quips pounded out 505 yards on the ground, allowing even the misfortune of five lost fumbles to not impact the outcome (only days later, Steelers fans learned the hard way about the costs of turnovers).
Three different backs rushed for 100 yards in the championship game – Terry Swanson ran for 206, Dravon Henry 123, and Malik Shegog 120.

Ironically, none of those three entered the game as the back to watch – Washington’s Shai McKenzie came in with over 2,600 yards and was within range of the WPIAL single-season rushing record. McKenzie finished with just 33 yards on 18 attempts – less than two yards per attempt.
