Aliquippa football team impressive again
In one of the most repetitive stories of the season, Aliquippa dominated again. The Quips’ closest game this season has been a 33-point win and the average margin of victory is 48.5 points.
This past week was a rematch of last year’s WPIAL championship game when the Quips had to come from behind to defeat Jeannette 14-7. This year’s semifinal was close for a scoreless first quarter before Aliquippa eventually raced to a 56-0 blowout and allowed just 10 total yards.
As has happened all year, Aliquippa emptied the bench in the second half and nine different players carried the ball. Despite the depth, the Quips have a few players with impressive numbers as both Dravon Henry and Terry Swanson have gained over 1000 yards despite rarely playing in the second half.
Defensively, the Quips have proven to be a tough problem for offenses to solve. On the ground, Aliquippa is allowing about four feet per carry (1.33 yards) but, when teams pass, the Quips are more likely to score than their opponents. Aliquippa has allowed two touchdown passes but returned five interceptions for scores.
