Hopewell girls' basketball team dominates Mars tournament

Written by Sports Town on .

The bitter taste of a home loss to Blackhawk didn’t linger long for Hopewell. The Vikings travelled to the Mars Holiday Tournament and dismantled Sto-Rox and Mars by a combined score of 129-43.

Now 7-1 overall, Hopewell was led in the Mars romp by Shatori Walker-Kimbrough. The senior, bound for the University of Maryland, outscored the opposition herself, scoring 31 against Sto-Rox and 33 against Mars.

The Vikings will not resume action in Section 2-AAA until the second week of the new year but won’t be sitting idly by this week. Hopewell will host Class AAAA Baldwin on Wednesday and District 10 Slippery Rock on Thursday.

Once section play resumes, the Vikings will host West Allegheny and Ambridge. Big games loom on the horizon though as Hopewell visits undefeated Central Valley on January 14 and have a rematch at Blackhawk on January 24.
