Written by Joe Koch on .

Following an 8-7 overtime victory over Class 3A Franklin Regional this past Thursday, the Hampton boys lacrosse team will take a few days off before a key Class 2A, Section 2 game on Tuesday with host Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic.

Coach Jim Vollberg's Talbots saw their four-game winning streak snapped with a 13-9 loss this past Monday to Class 3A Peters Township.

Going into the Franklin Regional game, Hampton had its share of one-sided victories with triumphs over Gateway, 18-1, North Hills, 16-4, Greensburg Central Catholic, 15-1, and Freeport, 13-6. But the Talbots have had their share with close games, too, with a 13-11 victory over Shaler and an 8-7 victory over Butler. Another loss was a 9-5 setback to Moon.

Tuesday's game at North is the only meeting between the two teams, and it represents yet another challenging game for the Trojans, who had three one-sided victories against non-section foes Trinity, 23-12, and Gateway, 17-6, and a 19-1 victory over section rival Indiana. The Trojans remained unbeaten with an 8-7 overtime victory this past Monday over section rival Knoch before dropping a 23-7 decision to unbeaten Mars this past Wednesday.
