WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College seniors right-handed pitcher Eddie Nogay (Weirton, W.Va./Madonna) and outfielder Josh Staniscia were both selected as 2014 D3baseball.com Preseason First Team All-Americans on Tuesday.
A three-time First Team All-PAC choice, Staniscia batted .371 last season with a team-high 66 hits and 38 RBI (2nd on team). The two-time D3baseball.com First Team All-Mideast performer is a career .375 hitter (184-for-491) is one RBI shy of 100. He has stolen 36 bases, produced 48 extra-base hits and only committed one error in 256 career chances.
Staniscia, the school’s career triple leader with 13, was the PAC’s eighth-leading hitter a year ago, who ranked among the top 10 players in six different statistical categories. As a sophomore, he was sixth in NCAA Division III with eight triples.
Staniscia, a Franklin Regional graduate, has played in all 132 games over the past three seasons and started 130 times. He is on pace to break the school record of 175 games played which is held by former third baseman Shaun Pfeil ’07. Staniscia holds a career .426 on-base percentage (has drawn 42 career walks).
