Fox Chapel boys' basketball team continues to live on the edge

If you’re a Fox Chapel boys’ basketball fan, you might not have any fingernails left.

Few, if any, WPIAL teams have played as many nailbiting games as Fox Chapel. The Foxes (15-4, 10-2) have played 19 games this season, and 12 of them have been decided by seven points or less. The Foxes are 8-4 in those games.

The nerve-wracking contests have become frequent in recent weeks. Of Fox Chapel’s last nine games, seven have been decided by seven points or less. Of those, there have been games decided by one, two and three points.

Fox Chapel has already clinched a WPIAL playoff spot, but the Foxes are involved in an intense battle for the Class AAAA Section 2 title. The other teams fighting for the top spot are Gateway (13-4, 10-2) and Central Catholic (14-5, 10-2).

The Foxes conclude section play with home contests tonight against Plum and Friday against Central Catholic.
