Boys' Basketball: South Athlete of the Week - Elizabeth Forward's JaQuan Davidson

Written by Brad Everett on .

Name: JaQuan Davidson
School: Elizabeth Forward
Grade: 11
Sport: Boys Basketball
Position: Guard/Forward

Background: Davidson, a 6-foot-4 junior, continues to make headlines in his first year at Elizabeth Forward. The McKeesport transfer leads the Warriors in points (23.9) and rebounds (10), as well as assists and steals. Davidson scored 33 points in last Friday’s 66-56 win against Steel Valley. The Warriors have won seven games in a row to push their record to 10-6 overall, 4-3 in Class AAA Section 4. Last fall, Davidson starred at quarterback for the Elizabeth Forward football team and led the Warriors to the WPIAL playoffs.

Coach Gerald “Puddin” Grayson said: “No one knew he could score like this. He didn’t have to do that at McKeesport. Not only can score, but he’s an unselfish player. He leads us in scoring, rebounds, steals and assists. I’ve never seen a kid do that. And I’m not exaggerating when I say this: He plays the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. He reminds me of Swin [Cash]. If there is any kind of comparison, it’s Swin. I told him he has that same type of role.”
