Luniewski helps lead Deer Lakes hockey team

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

In four of Deer Lakes’ first nine games this season, sophomore forward Zach Luniewski scored multiple goals. At that point, Deer Lakes was 4-4-1, including a 3-1 record when Luniewski scored at least two goals.

But in games 10-14, Luniewski only lit the lamp one time, and the Lancers went 1-4 during that span.

On Monday against Bishop McCort, Luniewski broke out with two goals and three assists in an 11-3 win.

The victory helped improve the Lancers to 6-8-1 and gave Luniewski 16 goals and a team-best 34 points on the season. He was selected to the Class A Northeast Conference All-Star team, along with teammate Tommy Lisowski.

Lisowski, a junior, scored three goals in the win over Bishop McCort to give him a team-high 18 on the season.
