Plenty of unknowns for defending WPIAL champion Chartiers-Houston softball team

Chartiers-Houston has won the WPIAL Class A title the past two seasons but there are plenty of unknowns this season for coach Tricia Alderson.

The Buccaneers move up to Class AA this season. It is the first time the program has been outside of the WPIAL’s smallest classification.

Even with six starters back including all-state pitcher Kayla Briggs, plenty of questions remain about the competition that lies ahead on the schedule and the competition for positions.

“There is a lot of competition for positions,” Alderson said. “This is a very diverse team. We know we have to keep performing to stay where we’re at. It will be more challenging by moving up to Class AA.”
