Hockey: Vikings get in win column

After losing its first three games by a combined score of 15-5, Central Catholic used a big second period to defeat Pine-Richland, 7-6, Tuesday for its first win of the season.

The Vikings outscored the Rams, 5-0, in the second period, helping them build a 7-2 lead heading into the final period before the Rams rallied.

Seven different Central Catholic players scored goals. Henry Sacchini finished with a goal and three assists, while Jesse Yeckel and Taylor Kirchneer each had a goal and two assists. For the season, Yeckel and Sacchini lead the team with five points apiece.

Brian Burger got the victory in goal, stopping 34 of 40 shots.

Central Catholic will return to the ice tonight when they play Mt. Lebanon at 7:10 at Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center.
