Written by Brad Everett on .

Name: Cam Weston
School: Canon-McMillan
Grade: 10
Sport: Baseball
Position: Pitcher

Background: Weston isn't just one of the best sophomores in the WPIAL. He's one of the best players, regardless of class. Weston has been outstanding pitching and hitting for a team that is among the best in Class 6A. On the mound, Weston is a right-handed flamethrower who has touched 91 miles-per-hour and has verbally committed to Michigan. At the plate, he's been a big contributor while batting No. 5 in the lineup. He pitched a two-hitter and added a two-run double in a 10-0, five-inning win against Mt. Lebanon last week. Canon-McMillan leads Section 3 with an 8-0 record. The Big Macs are 9-5 overall.

Baseball: Canon-McMillan’s one-two pitching punch among the best in the WPIAL

Zach Rohaley and Cam Weston have teamed up to give Canon-McMillan one of the top pitching duos in the WPIAL.

In fact, their coach said the tandem is the very best.

"I love it. No one has one like I have," Tim Bruzdewicz said. "A lot of teams have good ones, but I love my guys over any of the others. They're competitive and compete in a good way. They are just two really good guys and great pitchers and great student athletes. Both are hard workers."

Track: South Feature Athlete - Canon-McMillan’s Chyna Beck

Written by Brad Everett on .

Name: Chyna Beck
School: Canon-McMillan
Grade: 12
Sport: Track & Field
Events: 200, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump

Background: Beck had a big-time performance at last Saturday's Washington-Greene County Championships, racing to two gold medals and two silver medals in the event held at Canon-McMillan. Beck claimed titles in the 200-meter dash and 300 hurdles, and was the runner-up in the 100 hurdles and triple jump. It wouldn't be an overstatement to call Beck one of the top track and field athletes in Canon-McMillan history. She holds school records in four events: 100, 200, triple jump and 1,600 relay. She is one of the premier hurdlers and triple jumpers in the WPIAL. She owns the fifth-best times in the 100 hurdles (15.20) and 300 hurdles (47.07) in Class 3A this season, and holds the top spot in the triple jump (39-0 ½). That triple jump mark is the 11th-best in WPIAL history. She also jumped 39-11 ½ to finish second at the state indoor championships. Beck finished fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 200 at last year's WPIAL championships. She will run at Duquesne next season.
