Even with weather delays, Canon-McMillan softball team has plenty of competition

The Canon-McMillan softball team is in the same boat as many other WPIAL teams. The end of March is approaching and the defending WPIAL champion Big Macs have yet to play a game.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean there is not plenty of competition around, it is just coming internally.

Even as they wear the crown of defending WPIAL champions and with seven returning starters back, there is plenty of competition for positions.

“We have good backups,” tenth-year coach Michele Moeller said. “They are pushing the starters too and they’re all friends.”

Canon-McMillan is scheduled to open its season on Monday, April 1 against Hempfield in a rematch of the WPIAL Class AAA final from last season.
