He had a school record 30 kills in a five-set victory against Hopewell last week. He also set a school record earlier this year with 16 aces against OLSH. He's had as many as 36 assists and 28 digs in a match this season as well.

Quotes from Bishop Canevin Peter Barakat: "Matthew is playing this season at an All-State level. He has every skill that you need to be successful on the volleyball court, including being a good defensive player. He loves the game and always brings a positive energy to our gym. He's been playing volleyball for years, so even as a sophomore, he's our most experienced player. Plus, he's still learning the game and should be an even better player over his next two years."
