Each week we ask an opposing coach to break down a South area player.
This week: Bethel Park’s Wyatt Hagerty
Background: Hagerty, a 6-foot-11 senior center, is having an excellent season for a Bethel Park team that is 8-1 overall and stands in first place in Class AAAA Section 4 with a 3-0 record. A few of Hagerty’s best games this season came against Obama Academy (19 points and 15 rebounds) and Canon-McMillan (18 points). Hagerty owns several Division I scholarship offers, including James Madison, New Hampshire and Rider.
Opposing coach said: “I’ll tell you what, the nice thing about him is he works. He’s 6-11 and he moves really well. The big emphasis for him is this kid is not a typical 6-11, clumsy kid. He can move. We have to make sure we check him. Wyatt Hagerty is a nice ball player. That’s a nice thing to have, a kid that size that moves that well. [Bethel Park coach] Ben (O’Connor) has a good one.”
