Baldwin senior Nicholas Roth has qualified for the WPIAL Class AAA championships in a number of events, he got a good idea of the speed he will see at WPIALs in a recent dual meet against Upper St. Clair and Roth certainly held his own.
Roth swam on Baldwin’s second-place 200-yard medley relay that clocked in with a WPIAL qualifying time of 1:47.08. He swam a WPIAL qualifying time in the 200 individual medley with a 2:07.83, to finish second behind Upper St. Clair’s Patrick Lersch.
Roth took first place in the 100 butterfly swimming a 56.50, yet another WPIAL qualifying time. And he capped off his day with, you guessed it, being a part of a WPIAL qualifying time by anchoring the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.82).
Roth has qualified for WPIAL championships in six individual events and all three relays. He will decide which two individual events and which two relays he will compete in at the WPIAL finals.
