Baldwin and Bishop Canevin made a return trip to the WPIAL finals, but both had to settle for a silver medal.
Baldwin fell short in its attempt to win a third consecutive title. The No. 8 seeded Highlanders surprised everbody by making a return trip to the finals, but No. 2 seed Seneca Valley was too much to handle in the Class 4A final.
Seneca Valley claimed its second title and first since 2011 by sweeping Baldwin in straight sets, 27-25, 25-22, 25-21.
"It's exactly five years since our first title," Seneca Valley coach Karen Martini said. "We won on Nov. 5, 2011. I'm so proud of my girls."
Bishop Canevin advanced to the WPIAL Class 1A title match for the sixth time in seven years. The Crusaders lost to Greensburg Central Catholic in straight sets, 25-14, 25-10, 25-8.
