Here are some of the top games of the week.
Monday – Bethel Park at Mt. Lebanon, 7:30 p.m. – Neither team has lost since Jan. 3, and Bethel Park has been defeated just once this season. Class AAAA No. 1 Bethel Park (16-1, 9-0) will clinch at least a share of the Section 4 title by beating Mt. Lebanon (16-2, 7-1) for the second time this season. The Black Hawks previously defeated Mt. Lebanon, 60-54, behind 25 points from junior guard Megan Marecic. Bethel Park’s victory snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Blue Devils.
Monday – Charleroi at McGuffey, 7:30 p.m. – Class AA Section 5 leader McGuffey (15-1, 8-0) looks to distance itself from second-place Charleroi (13-5, 8-1). The high-scoring Highlanders (70.3 points per game) rolled over the Cougars, 61-40, on Jan. 3. Sammie Weiss, the leading scorer among South Sports Town schools, paced McGuffey with 26 points. Since then, Charleroi has won seven games in a row, five of the last six coming by at least 15 points. All but one of McGuffey’s wins has come by double digits.
