Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

It was Seneca Valley enjoying regular-season success in Class 6A Section 3. The Raiders won the section title and finished 15-6 but were ousted in the WPIAL first round. Meanwhile, Shaler (11-8, 6-4) and North Hills (11-10, 5-5) reached the WPIAL quarterfinals and North Allegheny (14-9, 6-4) reached the WPIAL semifinals and PIAA quarterfinals.

North Allegheny sophomore shortstop Rachel Martindale hit .442 with 11 doubles, 2 triples and 5 home runs and scored 35 runs. She drew 14 walks and only struck out four times, leading North Allegheny to the WPIAL Class 6A semifinals. Her arm strength and quick release makes the Pitt recruit tough on defense.

In Class 3A, Deer Lakes won the Section 1 title outright and finished with a 16-3 record and reached the WPIAL finals and PIAA quarterfinals. Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (11-6, 10-0) finished with a perfect record in Class 2A Section 2. Sewickley Academy (13-3, 11-1) shared the Class 1A Section 1 title with Union.
